Next KidsWalk meeting: Tuesday June 26th, 1pm

The KidsWalk Coalition will host its next quarterly meeting Tuesday June 26th from 1pm-2:30pm at the Prevention Research Center at Tulane University, 1440 Canal Street, Suite 2301. Stay tuned for an agenda. KidsWalk meetings are opportunities for Coalition members and supporters to exchange news and update one another on projects promoting policy and environmental changes in New Orleans that make walking and biking easier and combat obesity. Coalition to hold Strategic Planning Session Nov. 2

Incredibly, 2011 is nearly drawing to a close, and we have much to be proud of: a Complete Streets ordinance is in the works

at City Council, the ADA Transition Plan is wrapping up and nearly ready to be adopted, Harney Spirit of Excellence Academy received a Safe Routes to School grant, we’ve submitted recommendations for healthier CZO regulations, and we’ve reached out to neighborhoods across Orleans Parish.

Two funded years remain in the KidsWalk Coalition’s “Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities” grant, and we’d like to make the most of them. As such, we’re holding a strategic planning session Wednesday November 2. If your organization would like to participate and help chart the Coalition’s course for 2012, please contact Matt at mrufo@tulane.edu or 988-7778 for details.
